 While the MLS has adopted a Draft pick system similar to the NFL, NBA, and so fourth; Justin Braun is probably one of the few stories in the league that would resemble what soccer (or futbol) is all about. Players appearing out of the mist and enlightening us not solely by their skills, but rather by their character.  No, this is not a infatuation towards Justin Braun, simply a recognition of his dedication on the pitch, and what he truly signifies too Chivas USA. 

 There are many players in the world that came out of the blue to become professional players, but this is not the case for young Americans. In the states we are accustomed to a system where athletes are ”drafted” out of college, but what about those that didn’t go? Those that were not privilege? How do we find these players? Few clubs in the league has a decent youth system, but doesn’t seem to be accessible to many potential players. This is where Braun comes in, a player that truly defines what this sport is about, a peoples game.  Braun was spotted in a amateur tournament at the Home Depot Center by former head coach Preki. And since then he has moved up in the ranks in Chivas USA and becoming a recognizable figure. This is a player that was not involve in some sort of competition like “Seuno MLS” or having the luxury of being drafted. Nope, through hard work and playing each game like it was his last, he deserves to be where he is at today.

 Lately Braun has fallen into a little slump, but many great athletes goes through those phases. He might not be most talented player, or depend on him to be the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation, but stick him behind a front two and he will cause a lot of problems in the box, and chase every ball as tho his life depended on it. At times Braun is the proverbial headless chicken running and flapping for every ball , but in this we see his commitment, his determination, his desire. This is what Braun brings to the table, he has fought and is continuing to fight.

In many ways he is the talisman of Chivas USA and the epitome of the Ultras spirt  . What he lacks is probably what he provides the most, which is flair and that fighting spirit that will not give up. That is what the Ultras are about, keep going, push forward and bleed if you must, but never surrender!  We relate to him, Chivas USA in our eyes is him, unwanted by many, but passionately loved by us.

 With that, we hope Chivas USA knows what they got. And realize that he is more than a player to us, he is a symbol of what the badge represents. And Braun if your reading this, fight on, we know you have heart.
